Game rules

Setup. The sixteen Quarto pieces (white/black, big/small, round/square, solid/hollow) are randomly placed, one per cell, on a 4x4 square.
Goal. Force your opponent to form a complete group ie a group holding both values of all four attributes at once (white and black, big and small, round and square, solid and hollow). Whoever forms it loses.
A turn. The player to move designates a group (a non-empty cell) to their opponent. The opponent must move one piece from that group to another group in the same row or column, whose size is at least equal to that of the starting group. They then designate a group to the first player in turn.
End of game. If a complete group forms, whoever just moved loses. If no designation is possible anymore, the game is a draw.

How to play here

Designate: click a non-empty cell highlighted in gold.
Move: if the received group holds several pieces, click the piece to move first, then the green destination cell.
"Cancel selection" takes back a piece picked by mistake, as long as the move isn't complete.
"Undo last move" goes back one full round (both players).
